For novelists writing books long enough to lose track of

By chapter thirty you've forgotten what color her eyes were in chapter four. A reader won't have.

Write your story. We'll keep the notes. StoryClerk reads each chapter as you finish it and files away what it finds — who appeared, what changed between them, where it happened, and every rule you invented three months ago. You end up with a story bible you never had to sit down and write.

Nothing to fill in first

No blank template, no two thousand words of character notes before you're allowed to start. Open a chapter and write.

Every entry says where it came from

Each fact is cited to the chapter and the line that produced it, and nothing is filed until you say yes.

You choose how involved it is

Everything is on when you start — ideas, discussion, drafting alongside you. Want it quieter, or out of the way entirely? Two other modes do less, and all three keep the notes.

You'll know within a chapter whether this is for you.

  • You're past 40,000 words and you've started scrolling back to check things.
  • You're writing book two, and book one's details live in your head, a Word doc and three Notes files.
  • You started a story bible, filled in four characters, and never opened it again.
  • You have a mystery where six people could have done it, and you need to know who knew what, when.
  • You want the notes kept, but you do not want anything writing your prose.
  • You have a finished draft and no idea which threads you dropped in the middle.

Any genre. Fantasy and sci-fi, mystery and thriller, romance, literary and historical. If it has people, places and a timeline, StoryClerk tracks it.

What StoryClerk is

  • Where you write the whole book — with the notes building themselves alongside it.
  • It writes down the notes you never did. Five finished books, or the five chapters you drafted last week: it reads every page and builds the record you always meant to keep as you went.
  • Everyone, everywhere, and everything that happened. Characters, locations, factions, artifacts, world rules, history — each entry citing the exact paragraphs it came from, one click away from the page that proves it.
  • A whole story bible, and you approve it entry by entry. Nothing joins the record until you say so, and nothing in it was invented.
  • Continuity kept for you. What color her eyes were in chapter 2, who knew the secret and when, which arc has gone quiet for three chapters, which thread you dropped in the middle of book one.

Straight answers, before you sign up

Will it write my book for me?
Only if you ask it to. In Quiet Clerk and Human Certified modes it physically cannot put a sentence into your manuscript, and it keeps the notes either way.
Is my manuscript training data?
Never. Your manuscript is not used to train any AI model — ours or anyone else's — and it is never sold or shared.
Do I have to move my book here?
Bring the draft you have. The importer splits it into chapters and repairs what Word, Docs or a PDF broke on the way in.
Can I get it back out?
Any time. Manuscript and compendium to a zip in one click, and real-time synced into your own Google Drive. No proprietary format.

Your words stay yours. StoryClerk never uses your manuscripts, characters or notes to train AI models — ours or anyone else's — and never sells or shares your work. The full commitment is further down this page.

Put one chapter in and see what comes back.

Bring the draft you already have — the importer splits it into chapters and repairs what the conversion broke. Finish one chapter and look at what it found.
